Aviation Portraits is online again!
I want to illustrate my way of taking photos of airplanes on this website. I have started taking photos at airports at the age of 12 in 1989...with an old pocket camera my mom had given to me. Of course the planes were very small on the photos, but I was happy (; However, things changed and so did my ambitions. After some analog cameras I finally bought a Canon DSLR (a 300D) in 2004. A 20D followed and since 2009 I use a Canon 50D.
With the improving hardware, I also developed quite distinct criteria for any photos to be included in my collection:
Only photos, that show an airplane in perfect sunlight and without anything blocking the view, will be included. In other words: If there's no sun or somehting is obstructing part of the plane, I won't take a photo, no matter how interesting the plane may be.
To keep the collection interesting and clear, I only include one photo of a given airline and aircraft type (not making any difference between a 737-300 and a 737-900 for example). Also the registrations are of no interest to me.
This results in a rather small collection of photos, but these photos are of high quality and show a big variety of airlines and colours.
